As many trafficked victims have developed employable skills such as working as maids, in restaurants, or in manufacturing plants, MATTOO’s business development initiatives leverage these abilities to the individual’s advantage by linking them into existing enterprises or assisting them start their own business. For these individuals a legitimate pay check – with taxes taken out, the name of a company in the corner – empowers their true belief that they can be freed.
